Haruna Otani, MSW, is a psychotherapist with a Master of Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. She is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and has experience working with individuals across diverse cultural backgrounds.
Having lived in several countries, Haruna brings a global perspective to her practice and is passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that is inclusive, welcoming, and culturally sensitive. She believes that therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel safe to express themselves openly and discover their own strengths.
Haruna’s clinical approach emphasizes respect for each client’s unique experiences, values, and goals. She draws from evidence-based modalities while tailoring treatment to the individual, supporting clients in areas such as emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and relational challenges. She views therapy as a space not only for healing but also for self-discovery and personal growth.
